LaPichardo This CD is a delight. It gives you not only a new perspective on Bach's music; it also makes you chuchke because it has many other hidden winks and references. And the whole story it is embedded in makes it even more special. Highly recommended: it will lift you up and maybe spark hood conversation with other music lovers around you. Favorite track: Toccata (BWV 565).

about

Up till now, research undertaken by musicologists and music historians on the life and works of Johann Sebastian Bach has entirely overlooked Bach’s visit to Ireland. From its formation in 2007 the Reel Bach Consort has made it its task to fill in this gap. Through thorough research we have been able to gather numerous alternative facts that provide a deeper and more profound understanding of Bach’s travels, how he searched for new inspiration and even composed music on the Emerald Isle. The impact he has had on the local folk music is evident.
